As Switzerland’s largest media discounter, Ex Libris generates over 90% of its revenue through online channels – reaching a total turnover of CHF 119.6 million in 2022. Behind this digital success was a highly complex infrastructure: around 70 separate applications managed the product and order flows, connecting ERP systems, suppliers and sales platforms. The result was a high maintenance burden, frequent manual errors and fragmented environments.
Solution
collana solutions modernised the Ex Libris system landscape from the ground up. As part of a comprehensive automation project, all applications were upgraded to the latest .NET Core version, made container-ready and migrated to Linux-based environments. Deployment is now fully automated via CI/CD pipelines, with time-controlled execution managed in OpenShift. The new architecture not only brings greater stability, but also reduces operating costs – in part by eliminating the need for Windows licences.
Result
Manual error potential was significantly reduced, the application landscape was unified, and core business processes became noticeably leaner and more stable – resulting in substantial cost savings. The new system architecture also created the foundation to extend the same approach to other parts of the business.
"The project was a great success. The solutions provided by collana solutions are essential for linking ERP systems, frontends, suppliers and external partners. Thanks to the careful implementation and expert guidance, we were able to optimise processes and ensure platform stability at all times. We plan to apply this same approach to other parts of our system landscape."
